Five Reasons For Nurturing Healthy Self-Esteem

Self-esteem is the core of your personality and, in my opinion, your most important success tool. Self-esteem is the person you really see when you look in the mirror. The healthier your self-esteem, the greater your power to succeed, thrive and enjoy true happiness.

Here are five reasons for making and taking time to nurture your self-esteem:

1. Your self-esteem is the foundation for your behavior. How you act and react to the "things" that happen in life come from how you see yourself fitting into the world. The healthier your self-esteem, the less you tend to overreact to the "things" that happen. Your reactions to the "things" in life can be traced back to how you feel about yourself as a worthy and deserving person.

2. The choice is yours; you can be your best friend or your worst enemy. No one can discourage you from achieving your true potential unless you give them the power. With healthy self-esteem, you retain the emotional power to control your successes. Believing you are worthy and deserving of success, happiness and unlimited prosperity gives you the self-confidence to believe in and stand by your everyday choices.

3. No one will ever be as critical of you as you are of yourself. The healthier your self-esteem, the less critical you are of your abilities, appearance, and your right to be happy and successful. With healthy self-esteem your inner dialogue is less critical and more encouraging. You'll find more things to celebrate about yourself and your life.

4. Healthy self-esteem means you trust yourself enough to know what's best. Healthy self-esteem means you're decisive and sure of your judgment. Self-trust is about believing positively in your ability to make wise choices and empowered decisions. Self-trust gives you the added confidence and assurance to trust your judgment and to tune into your instincts.

5. Healthy self-esteem means that you believe in your right to be happy. You are the only one who controls your level of happiness. No one can "make" your happy - that's a gift you give to yourself. The healthier your self-esteem, the more you smile, laugh and enjoy life.

What have you done lately to nurture your self-esteem? Do you speak nicely to yourself about yourself? Do you say "thank you" with true belief when you're given a sincere compliment? Do you believe in your right to be healthy, happy and wealthy?

Working day-to-day to enhance your self-esteem, and the self-esteem of those around you, will change your life for the positive. Healthy self-esteem gives you the power to thrive in your life, not just survive. Here's to your healthy, happy and wealthy life!
